Aspiring for a playoff appearance, the Brooklyn Nets entered the game against the No.1 Seed in the Western Conference, Golden State, with one mission: to win.

Brooklyn hosted Golden State and they played with a huge chip on their shoulder. It was an intense game between both teams and in the end it was the late game heroics of Point Guard Jarrett Jack that gave Brooklyn their first home victory since early February.

Small Forward Thaddeus Young played a great game for Brooklyn by scoring 14 points. It was his first game in the Barclays Center after the trade that sent Power Forward Kevin Garnett back to Minnesota.

Another interesting development in this game was the duel between Nets Center Brook Lopez and Warriors Center Andrew Bogut. Lopez won the duel finishing with 26 points and six rebounds.

“I loved the hustle that Brook displayed at the game against the Warriors. Golden State is known for its defense as of late, and it was good to see him battle a tough center like Bogut. Hopefully he plays more minutes as a starter instead of a reserve,” senior Jacob Godoy said.

Point Guard Stephen Curry led his team in a losing effort. In the final quarter, he scored 18 of his 26 points. Curry made six treys which dazzled the crowd continually.

“Curry is always a pleasure to watch. He has great basketball IQ and flawless execution of the basketball. I am a strong supporter of his and I hope he becomes MVP as the regular season concludes,” senior Dennis Mitts said.

Brooklyn’s shocking victory was well needed, as they battle for the eighth seed of the Eastern Conference. It is simply unpredictable to decide who will clinch that final position as playoffs draw closer.

Their next game is against Charlotte. Like this game against Golden State, Brooklyn will have the home court advantage. A victory against Charlotte will further push Brooklyn’s hope for a playoff appearance.
